Prithipura Beach and Reef Cleanup

If you walk down any beach, you will never fail to see dregs of humanity washed up ashore. Most beaches are no longer pristine and beautiful. Instead, they are littered with trash, glass and the greatest evil of them all – plastic.

That is why Oceanlust, together with the “Men in Whites” Navy Veterans Whatsapp Group, the Sri Lanka Navy, Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA), Wattala Pradeshiya Sabhawa and many other institutions joined hands in a Beach and Reef Cleaning of the Prithipura Beach, Uswetakeiyyawa.

The event was held in great success with the participation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetanne, Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Sudarshana, and representatives from various organisations such as the National Development Bank PLC, Capital Maharaja Organisation and Sirasa News 1st, RH & Eileen de Mel Trust, SENOK and countless others.

The Reef Cleaning was conducted by the Navy Divers while the beach itself was cleaned by both young and old.
